  “细语者”是波兰一个群体的统称。“细语者”相信自己拥有上帝赋予的天赋，能用咒语解除厄运、治疗疾病。他们通常向其他信徒轻声吟诵经文，因此得名“细语者”。大多数波兰的“细语者”是年长的妇女，她们居住在波兰东部的小村庄里。起初，“细语者”来自于东正教，但是今天，东正教却予以否认。“细语者”常在自己的小屋或者特定的场所里施法。前来拜访“细语者”的人来自于波兰各个地方。“细语者”们给人瞧病或解咒不收取费用，她们觉得这是上帝赋予他们的义务。

    Whisperers are people who believe they posses a gift from God, giving them the power to heal all kinds of diseases and physical pain. They claim that they are also able to throw spells and charms and free people from evil possession. The name probably came from the way they treat their believers, whispering special prayers into their ears. At least that's the best known explanation because the few last Whisperers in Poland use little different techniques. Whisperers are most of all elder women. They live in small villages in Podlasie area in the eastern part of Poland, few kilometers from Belarus. They derive from the Orthodox church but today the church don't want to recognize them, cutting itself from that kind of practices. They treat patients all day in their houses or special blessed places few kilometers away from the villages they live in. Most of them don't take any money for their seance saying that their are obligated before God to do this. Whisperers have their regular patients from the nearby villages and people from all parts of Poland and sometimes even the world. They have been a part of the local culture for hundreds of years in Podlasie, land of mysticism and symbols that dictate the rhythm of life for many people living here.

   在西非之角的塞内加尔，无论是清晨，还是日暮；无论是骄阳，还是风雨，只要有空地，就有足球爱好者的身影。塞内加尔的男孩子一般从5、6岁就接触足球，尽管他们中的大多数一生都不会穿上专业球鞋，也没有机会在专业球场上踢球，但是这些都不妨碍他们对足球的热爱。

    塞内加尔从1960年开始举办业余足球联赛，2009年才有职业联赛。但塞内加尔国家队实力雄厚，不仅曾获得非洲国家杯的冠军，而且在2002年世界杯上淘汰世界冠军法国队，并最后杀入八强。广泛的群众基础，使塞内加尔足球人才辈出，其中一些球员在海外的职业联赛效力，有些成为足球巨星。他们也是孩子们心目中的英雄。

    帕尔曼曾经在沙特职业联赛效力，现在是一名足球教练。他说，成为职业球员从而改变自身贫困的命运确实是一些男孩的梦想。但足球在塞内加尔如此普及，首先是人们发自内心的喜爱。足球不像有些运动项目需要昂贵的装备。不分贫富贵贱，任何人在球场上都是平等的，同样可以从足球中获得无尽的快乐。

    In Senegal, located on the western tip of the African continent, there must be soccer enthusiasts if there is an open area, no matter dawn or dusk, sunny or rainy. Senegalese boys begin to play soccer since five or six years old in their childhood. Although most of them have no opportunity to wear a pair of professional plimsoll or to play soccer on a professional field, their love for soccer cannot be stopped by anything. Senegal started amateur soccer league matches from 1960, and there has been no professional league match until 2009. However, based on the people's enthusiasm for soccer, Senegal's national soccer team has entered the final eight of the World Cup 2002 and has won the champion of Africa Cup of Nations. A great number of Senegalese soccer talents have emerged in Senegalese history, among whom there are also some big stars who play in professional leagues overseas. Senegalese soccer stars fulfilled their achievements and have become the heroes in local children's eyes. Palmer was once a soccer player in professional leagues of Saudi Arabia and now he is a coach. He said that it was the fact that becoming professional soccer player so as to change their own impoverished destiny is some boys' dream, but the fact that soccer's popularity in Senegal is at first from the love for soccer at the bottom of people's heart. Playing soccer does not need costly outfit and no matter you are rich or poor, all the players in the soccer field are equal with each other and could harvest endless happiness from soccer.

    2011年6月5日，在智利恩特拉古斯附近的普耶韦火山上空，闪电划过弥漫的火山灰。6月4日，休眠了数十年的普耶韦火山突然喷发，喷射出的火山灰上升至10公里高的空中，并随气流向邻国阿根廷移动，迫使智利政府疏散了数千附近居民。

  1986年4月6日，乌克兰切尔诺贝利核电站发生核事故。4号核反应堆爆炸释放大量放射性污染到大气中，被认为是历史上最严重的核事故。切尔诺贝利附近的森林和农田现在仍然带有核辐射。当地许多城镇和村庄的居民被疏散而成为空城。但最糟糕的是灾难对人健康的影响。事故发生后，237人患有急性放射疾病，其中31人前三个月死亡。与事故有关的健康问题包括癌症、基因突变、长期的基因缺陷、染色体畸变、患上唐氏综合症……人们还不知道到底辐射的影响是什么，而且总有一种不祥的预感。25年后，切尔诺贝利事故带来的影响仍然是个大问题。

    On April 26, 1986, a nuclear accident occurred at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine. An explosion and fire in the Reactor number 4 released large quantities of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere. It is considered the worst nuclear plant accident in history.

    Forests and agricultural lands near Chernobyl are still radiation contaminated. Many towns and villages are empty as the locals were evacuated. But the worst thing is the disaster's effects on human health. In the aftermath of the accident, 237 people suffered from acute radiation sickness, of whom 31 died within the first three months. Health problems linked with the Chernobyl disaster include cancer, mutations, long term genetic defects, chromosomal aberrations, Down syndrome… People remain largely unsure of what the effects of radiation actually are and retain a sense of foreboding. Disadvantaged children around Chernobyl suffer from health problems that are attributable not only to the Chernobyl accident, but also to the poor state of post-Soviet health systems.

    25 years later, the real consequences of the Chernobyl disaster are still a great question.
